Dr. Diego A. Camacho is a native of Fort Lauderdale, Florida. He graduated from Cardinal Gibbons High School and the University of Miami. After college, Dr. Camacho attended Tufts University School of Dental Medicine in Boston.
During dental school, he also focused on outreach and dental research. For example, Dr. Camacho was the Hispanic Dental Association President. Also, Dr. Camacho volunteered in local and international dental missions. Dr. Camacho won the Quintessence Award for Clinical Achievement in Periodontics for his research. In other words, the doctor was incredibly busy learning about all aspects of dentistry while also giving back to the community!
After dental school, he went on to specialize in Periodontics and Implantology. Dr. Camacho joined the prestigious Department of Periodontics at Virginia Commonwealth University School of Dentistry in Richmond, VA for residency.
As in dental school, Dr. Camacho excelled as a resident in his speciality. For example, he won first place in the Billy Pennel Memorial Research Award from the Southern Academy of Periodontology. Also, he served as Chief Resident. Dr. Camacho received a Master’s of Science Degree in Dentistry and certificates in periodontics and intravenous conscious sedation. Furthermore, Dr. Camacho is a Diplomate (board certified) in Periodontics and Dental Implant Surgery.

Following residency, Dr. Camacho returned home to Fort Lauderdale. At Fort Lauderdale Periodontics and Implant Dentistry, he enjoys practicing all aspects of periodontal and implant therapy. Above all, he prides himself on creating an enjoyable experience for his patients by going above and beyond. Importantly, he treats every patient like a member of his own family.
Also, Dr. Camacho is committed to staying up to date with the latest digital technology and advances in dentistry. Through speaking engagements, the doctor provides continuing education to other dentists. Dr. Camacho is certified in Basic Life Support and Advanced Cardiac Life Support. Additionally, he is a member of the American Academy of Periodontology, Broward County Dental Association, Fort Lauderdale Dental Study Club, and Southern Academy of Periodontology.

Continuing Research and Mentorship
Much like he did in dental school and residency, Dr. Camacho is still involved in dental research today! His office partners with professors and researchers at Nova Southeastern University in order to stay on the cusp of the latest dental discoveries. Currently, he is actively recruiting patients for a study on saliva. Together, with researchers he hopes to publish findings in order to help diagnose and treat oral diseases earlier!
Also, Dr. Camacho likes to give back to students. His office has been a partnership site for students at Nova Southeastern University-Health Sciences Masters Program. Through this program, he is paired with students hoping to go to dental school. They come to his office for a rotation where they shadow and learn about periodontics.
Dr. Camacho enjoys spending time with his wife and family, traveling, escaping to the mountains, hiking, Miami Heat basketball, cycling, boating, and fishing.
